On Saturday evening Toney and I were watching Friday Night Lights, and enjoying a few Anchor Steams. As I sat and sucked a sizable hunk of enchilada from between two molars, I began reviewing what I’d eaten during the day.
It started with three(!) Dunkin Donuts, and about six cups of coffee. I shake my head in shame as I type these words, but it’s true. The amount of coffee is standard, but Toney went to the grocery store early, and stopped by DD on her way home. She had a coupon, she said.
Toney won’t eat donuts, she says they’re “disgusting,” but the boys and I ripped through that dozen in short order. When the cloud of sugar glaze settled, there was one lonely ring o’ goodness left in the box. All of us wanted it, but nobody likes to be held responsible for rendering the house donutless.
Yes, a donut frenzy almost always ends with one left in the box. I think John Adams said that.
And before I move on to “lunch,” I have a terrible confession to make… When it gets right down to it, I think I prefer Dunkin Donuts glazed to Krispy Kreme. There, I said it! I’m sorry, so very very sorry.
Around noon we went to Sam’s, the exclusive club Toney and I belong to. I perused their books, CDs (I seriously considered a two-disc Hall & Oates collection, but just couldn’t do it, probably because of the disturbing cover), and DVDs. Then I wandered over to the snack bar and ordered two hot dogs, and one of their two-hander soda cups.
I squirted mustard on both hot dogs and, as always, the distribution was way off. There was much more mustard on one end of the wiener than the other. I blame it on the condiment pump; those things put out nothing or way too much. It’s frustrating. I had to use a plastic knife to smear it all around, and somehow got a gob of it on my jacket sleeve.
After Sam’s we went to Target, where I bought a Kit Kat and snorkled it down before we reached the car. I’ve heard rumors of people finding a Kit Kat finger with no wafer inside: just solid chocolate. So I’m always hopeful, but so far disappointed.
Is it a myth? Have you ever had a waferless Kit Kat? Or is it the candy bar equivalent of Bigfoot, or fun at the opera?
Since we were in the neighborhood we went to Wegman’s to buy a six pack of some sort of fancy-ass microbrew. We stood in front of the giant wall of greatness, and decided to go with Anchor Steam — a beer we loved during the Atlanta era, but hadn’t purchased in years.
Indeed, we served Anchor Steam at our wedding reception: Anchor Steam and Rolling Roll longnecks. During that evening I also danced with Sunshine, to Kool and the Gang. But that’s a story for a different day… It’ll always be a story for a different day.
For dinner Toney made enchiladas (yum), and a big mess of nachos. By the end of the meal I was starting to founder, and waddled down to the fambly room. There I snuggled ‘neath the Scrote-watcher, drank beer, and tossed dry roasted peanuts into my mouth.
So, there you go; it’s how I’m able to maintain my powerful upper body. I had donuts, coffee, two huge emasculation dogs, a Kit Kat bar, beer, nachos, and enchiladas. And nothing else.
What did you eat on Saturday? Can you remember? Please tell me I’m not the most unhealthy among us? Use the comments to make me feel a little better, won’t you?
And I’ll see you guys tomorrow. If my heart cooperates.
Re: html and css classes
I wish your links opened in a new tab with a single-click.
Right now I right-click / open in new tab (There’s a *small* improvement idea.
I also wanted to tell you that I learned a lot of tricks by viewing the page source on sites that I liked to see “how they did it”
In FF go to View/Page Source. It will look like gobble-dee-gook right now, but as you learn it will start to make sense what you are seeing.
It’s not the same as it was back in the day. Now CSS code is an imported file and you cannot see it this way (which is sad) but you might as well get the web developer toolbar ff extension https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/60 ..cause it IS a gem even if you use it to understand tables and such
On Saturday I made homemade bread and rabbit salad. I probably ate a dozen or so rabbit salad sandwiches over the course of the day along with 4 oranges, a half a gallon of iced tea and about 3/4 gallon of milk.
Oh and doughnuts? Tim Horton’s. Definitely.
All the Krispy Kermes in my neck of the woods closed about 18 months ago. Their problem is that they’re too dammed sweet. Like Renn and Misselle I’m a Tim Horton’s fan.
In fact I’ve apparently visited TH too much of late, and I had visions of turning into Funnel Pants, so I’ve decided to “cut back”. As a result Saturday’s intake consisted of two apples, half a peanut butter sandwich, and some back bacon.
Side Note: I’m kinda surprised that TH is known south-o-the border. I don’t get into the U.S. that often (other than upper New York and Michigan) but I can’t recall ever seeing one in the U.S.
Krispy Kreme is either heavenly or horrible. Fresh from the conveyor belt, there’s nothing better than a hot glazed. If they’ve been sitting longer than 15 minutes, they suck ass crack. I’d rather eat spinach than a stale KK.
I am just north of Boston and they opened three KK shopa in our area a few years ago. One near us was right next to a Dunkin Donuts. The public has spoken… ALL the KK’s have gone out of business and we have more DD shops than ever. Other Kristin… I had a Greek salad with honey barbque steak and feta for supper Sat night. That OK??
I like doughnuts of all sorts. I have KK now and then, when they’re hot. But I don’t like this idea of using doughnuts as hamburger buns. It just doesn’t sound good. I saw a television show where the top bun was a grilled cheese sandwich and the bottom bun was also a grilled cheese sandwich. That’s more like it.
My BBQ and armadillo eggs turned out perfect! No vegetables yet, I work hard to avoid them.
Y’all need to check out this donut place, if you’re near one of their locations. Definitely habit-forming.

“I saw a television show where the top bun was a grilled cheese sandwich and the bottom bun was also a grilled cheese sandwich. That’s more like it.”
I just came.
Joey’s right about KK: they gotta be fresh.
My Saturday food intake:
Breakfast: toasted bagel with cream cheese, and a Coke
Lunch: Pack of wheat/cheese crackers and some water
Dinner, at Panera bread while out shopping: A panini with fresh mozzarella, basil, and tomatoes. An apple, a shortbread cookie and some fruit punch.
GregT my brother lives in Hubbardston.
Nothin’ special on Saturday, but on Friday, shrimp scampi for lunch and and endive salad and pasta for dinner.
Dinner was followed by a flourless chocolate cake from Dean and Deluca’s in New York. Since all attendees were stoned, the cake lasted five minutes before total consumption.
I can’t stand most KK donuts. I don’t care how fresh the damn things are, they’re disgusting. I’m just not a fan of that much sugar glaze on anything.
I do however like some of their filled donuts, like raspberry and apple. If I remember those ones have powdered sugar on them instead of that horrible glaze. Of course i haven’t been there in years, ever since I quit partaking in activities which give me the munchies…
There is NO Dunkin Donuts anywhere near me in WV!!!
I normally gorge myself on them when I take my annual trip home to Maine every year. We stop there almost daily during our two week trip and I’m in a MooMoo by the time we’re rolling down 1-79.
Hate Krispy Kremes. I’d rather lick a sugar coated a$$hole…
Tyrosine, I live in West Virginia, and we have Tim Horton’s everywhere. There are three in my town, alone.
Good gawd, Kripsy Kreme when the hot sign is on is like little rings of donut heaven. They melt in your mouth. I’m drooling right now thinking about it. And the chocolate covered, YUMM!
I ABHOR and DETEST cake donuts. YUCK. I refuse to eat Dunkin Donuts.
Since the pre-planned trip to NYC went ahead despite it being the coldest weekend of the year the Saturday vittles were as follows.
Breakfast Duke’s Cafe on W. 52nd St. Western omelette platter, inc hashbrowns and toast, large black coffee. Very reasonable for NYC, around $7.
No lunch.
Dinner, John’s Pizzaria on W. 45 St., appettizer, Pete’s a rolls, Large Pie with multiple toppings washed down with a Stella and Yuengling.
Nightcap at the overly expensive Mariott bar overlooking Times Square.
Er, Saturday? That was a long time ago – do recall it featured a double cheeseburger from McD’s (my personal crack) after the Things got their green belts.
And then some bourbon. Yay bourbon!
I’ve been on the phone with a “credick” card company for the past hour, trying to get a screw-up unscrewed. I don’t think the update is going to happen… I’ll try to post something tonight, after I get home, but that often doesn’t work out. Tomorrow is my HTML class again, so it might be Friday before I’m able to update again. I hate it, but this kind of crap happens. Oh, it most certainly happens.
Those Credick Card Companies eat it from the ass in.
Did you explain to them you explain you were an internet rock star and needed resolution ASAP cause the drones were waiting?
No?
Damn!
He has shirts damnit! Shirts!
Meh. It falls on silent ears
Another weird sex fetish on the bunker cam…
Anyone google “sugar coated a$$hole?”
I mean anyone else?
Did you have the safe search on harumpa? The images are a lot more bizarre with the safe search on.

I was extremely hung over Saturday morning after drinking with a good friend who is fixin’ to get shipped to the desert. Had to work, OF COURSE. No breakfast other than 3 cups of coffee. Lunch was Tomato Soup and a few Low Fat Colby Jack cheese sticks. Had a fruit roll up and a 100 calorie pack for a snack in the car on the way to a wedding. Bride and Groom are both rednecks… Dinner consisted of pheasant, elk, and trout with all the trimmings. Actually, it was all quite tasty. The bride works at the lodge we were at. The corporate executive chef preparded the food because she had to fire her head chef 2 days before because she caught him shooting up in the kitchen! Just what the bride wants to see!
Speaking of eating healthy (or not), I eat a lot of Subway’s veggie sandwiches, and always beg the “condiment commander” to please, please exercise restraint with the lite mayo, often to absolutely no avail, it makes me want to leap over their sneeze guard and do it myself. Just wanted to confirm Jeff’s opinion on the matter. Hate KK donuts, thought it was just me, glad to join the club. I can confirm Shipley Do-Nuts in TN and TX. Never had one, just can confirm it.
strangeart1… try a shipley’s… they rock…
I do know of a regular reader/commenter who used to work at a Shipleys.
@Tammie:
“I’d rather lick a sugar coated a$$hole…”
So, how you doin’?
What the motherfuck?
some molten nacho cheese that mysteriously appeared on my doorstep after a knock and screeching tires were heard.
Saturday eats: 4 cups of coffee in the morn…lunch was chinese food at Cathay House…dinner was meatloaf and corn…night cap of several beers and shots….
As for the do-nuts…they all suck!! I know I’m all alone here but when you’ve worked in a do-nut shop before for 5yrs!!! they really leave a bad impression on you…
Adam…Shipley’s does not rock..LOL
No doubt about it Duncan over Krispy Kreme, anytime.
After a box of DD, you have to go on a solid tuna and spinach diet for a week.
Gee thanks now I have to stop by DD in the morning on the way to the office….
I wonder if Jeff knew what “ponyplay” was when he posted that photo?
i played golf saturday morning… i started the day with 4 tylenol swallowed with crown royal from the bottle…. (4 the hangover) i had 3 more beers and a crown and coke by the turn… and a cigarette per hole… then 2 chili cheese dogs and another beer at the turn… another c&c on the back nine before goin to ryans after the round… spaghetti fried chicken steak shrimp potatoes and gravy and several helpings of mac and cheese… then after goin out drinkin the rest of the night i polished the day off with 6 cheese krystals 3 chili cheese pups fries and a coke…
Joe, I assume that is your last post before your funeral?
I’ve had a couple of Kit Kat’s in the past where one or two of the fingers have been solid chocolate! Yum Yum!!
I can just about remember last Saturday’s meals:
Brunch – 2 slices of toast with marmite; and
Dinner – large prawns stir fried with chilli & garlic served on a bed of salad leaves drizzled with balsamic vinegar followed by salmon fillet wrapped in Parma ham and a jacket potato (think there may have been some other veg) followed by (shop bought) apple crumble & custard. All washed down with copious amounts of white and red wine! I also managed to glug down two large glasses of Baileys with added Tia Maria!!
No wonder I felt so crap most of Sunday!
Getting close to a new post? I see Larry Fine and Moe Howard are in the bunkercam this am.
My brother and I shared a case of Magic Hat Winter Ales this weekend. A very enjoyable mix. I have to say, that in my area (Rochester), Wegman’s has a great beer selection.
Tim Hortens is more prevalent than DDs here, but then again, I’m in Upstate NY and you could practically through a stick at Canada. (Not that I’d want to)
I’m pretty sure the Boone County Ninja was getting gas on Corridor G this morning. If not, it was his twin there pumping gas with a lit cigarette hanging out of his mouth.
Good Afternoon Surf Reporters!!
Just got an “urgent” phone call from the home base. The missus says”You got a package here from Olyphant,PA. What’s that about?”
“My T shirt is here! My T shirt is here!”
It’s like Christmas morning all over again, only better, because I didn’t get anything for Christmas…
Spent time last week in a mtn. cabin near Gatlinburg TN. We drank two full cases of Yuengling (can’t get it in Ohio) YUM. For some reason it doesn’t make my face all hot and flushed ike most other beers. It was Winterfest and Gatlinburg was FULL of teens on a religious retreat DAMN!!! They had their fiirst real snowfall of the year and below freezing weather just in time for us to enjoy. PLLLPPFFT Got stuck up in the mountains till the roads thawed.
SATURDAY We ate bacon, eggs ,and toast for breakfast, deep fried black olives (DELICIOUS!) ,burgers, and fried mushrooms for lunch, and King crab, shrimp, steak and fresh green beans for dinner all prepared my husband John,
Debra,
Deep fried black olives? What are they battered with? Sounds good.
Yea give it up there Deb…sounds interesting.
Is Jeff dead or what? No friggin update …other than the pic of the day and the evidence section…..WTF?
