At the bottom of the picture is a baggy containing a single Tootsie Roll, a coupon for a Wendy’s Frosty, a small serving of Play-Doh, and an advertising pamphlet for a local business that caters to scrapbookers.
As of 9:30 PM MST, I have had exactly ~ZERO~ little trick-or-treaters knock on my door. WTF? Every year it’s gone down, a dozen two years ago, last year I think there were four, and now this. Where you suppose they all went? I reckon I gots me some candy needs eatin’, as I have WAY more than my secret got. hahahaha
kind of a strange ratio there, usually the skittle/m&m: bar candy ratio is lower, but this seems to be an unusually high concentration of small orb shaped candies in this particular haul. Also, dibs on the PB M&M’s…only the best candy EVER.
We prepared for 150+ little beggars, but were visited by 30 to 35 kids. Now we have 100 kit kats and reese cups left over.
After 8:00 PM, I was shoving 3 or 4 candy bars at each kid just to get rid of them.
Last night were many high school football games, so my guess is that half of the kids skipped trick-or-treat to go to the football games.
Top left corner…did somebody give out an actual 2-pack of Reeses? Usually they only tease you with the single or the miniatures. Must be inflation. That’s a big score right there.
kristen – Nah, it’s not the candy. My kid said there were very few kids out last night, and most were skipping the street I live on since there are so many empty houses right now (foreclosures, ya know). I sat outside for a while, and saw nobody out at all. Weird.
My youngest secret got about twice that. My older secret got a ziploc bag full. She decided to go with her friends out in the country. She did it last year too and I had much fun laughing at her and her anti-family activity ways. She hasn’t learned that mom knows where to get the good stuff! And I’ll take dibs on any Jr. Mints and Almond Joys!
We got a weird treat also. This one house where the guy has 6 chow-chow’s gave out sandwich bags with Halloween decorations. Little witches on brooms and bobble-head Jack-o-lanterns. A couple tootsie rolls and a mini-tootsie pop was thrown in the bottom.
I’m impressed by the 2 pack of peanut butter cups. As far as I’m concerned that’s a full size candy bar. Nice.
Our attendance was down as well. We have a ton of left over too. My wife wants to donate it. Excuse me? Is that even possible? Besides, I want it.
I’m a huge fan of Halloween. If there were only some way to incorporate explosives it would be the perfect holiday. And taking The Peanut trick or treating the first time was a blast. That was way more fun than I expected.
Now she keeps going into her bag (at breakfast time) and telling me she wants candy. She does’t even know what she’s bringing me- fruit snacks, sour patch candy, bit-o-honey- she just wants it.
Where the hell is all the candy corn? Oh. Yall prolly ate it before you took the picture.
I stayed at the house last night while my wife took the kids to the mall and several other places. Like Beerhound, I didn’t get a single taker.
I dumped out the loot when my wife got back and Jeff’s looks a lot better than ours. We had several individually wrapped “circus peanuts”, a ziplock bag of cancy corn, a candy necklace – well, I can’t complain about that, candy necklaces are delicious. She said one guy at a “trunk of treat” church thing they went to had a BBQ pit out there and was serving hot sausages to the kiddos. They’d walk by and he take one of the grill with his tongs and drop it in their bag. HAHA. Seems crazy to me.
I can’t say I’d turn my nose up at any of the sugary delectables in the pic.
Our house got hit hard Thursday night(trick or treat night). Wife purchased a fair sized lot of goodies, trick or treat started at 6:00pm and she called me at work at 7:20pm to say she was cleaned out.
I said to either turn out the porch light and call it a night, or start handing out things like hard boiled eggs, individual tea packets, handfuls of pistachio nuts, dry pasta, Lipton Soup mix packs, pretty much anything in the pantry.
Necco wafers! Why not just go into the medicine cabinet and gnaw on a few Pepto Bismol tablets.
Used to have the crazy old ladies at the end of the street plop a couple pennies and a nickel into your bag. Or you might receive the most delicious of Halloween treats… an apple. Usually extremely ripe.
I didn’t see one light on, on our street Thursday night. (Trick or Treat night) Lots of older folks on the street, and they probably just didn’t want to fiddle with it. I know I didn’t.
Looks about double the haul my jr. ended up with, but we were only out for about an hour. October here in Maine is like December where I’I grew up in PA. Half of my kid’s things were thrown out. According to hub, anything that can be unwrapped, inserted into something, then re-wrapped is a risk we won’t take.
Took the grandson out for a little over an hour around the neighborhood, and he got a little bit larger haul than pictured. He also got a toy (light-up plastic ring), a couple of notepads, and four pencils. One of the notepads and pencils has some religious stuff on it.
I was surprised at how many houses didn’t have their lights on. Maybe because of Friday night a lot of people were out partying?
We also ran across four or five houses where they just put a bowl of candy out with a sign saying “Please take only a few”. Guess that way you’re giving out candy without all the bother of actually getting your fat ass out of the chair and going to the door. Maybe I’ll try that next year!
2 full size Reese’s ! Lucky dog. I love peanut butter and chocolate. PB M&M’s are great too.
When I was a teenager (I stopped trick or treating at 18) we would use pillow cases as bags. We would hit one development after another. I would have enough candy to last me to christmas,…but my stash would only last till thanksgiving.
l like it when the house giving out the goodies decorate and dress up. But this one house went way overboard – the neighborhood kook and her cronies, dressed as witches, were giving out candy along with large dixie-type of cups of apple cider from a cauldron. Looked pretty neat but how the hell do I know that she didn’t put Southern Comfort or draino in there. not taking any chances. I held it for him then spilled it on the street. oops
I went to my sister’s place to hand out the candy while she and her husband took their kids out. They came back with a wagon full of loot. It covered the entire kitchen table. Someone gave them Cadbury mini eggs. I love those things, but it seemed somewhat strange to get Easter candy at Halloween.
Hey, Jeff, there is a better picture of the woman who was arrested in the cow costume (see the WVSR Cam). You have to see the entire photo to get a better appreciation for the getup. See it here:
Nice quality haul. We closed shop at 9:30pm. Longest stretch of hoodlums, pirates, witches and undead yet. They started early and trickled throughout the evening. Mini chocolate bars seem to be the common items around here. The tootsie pops (fullsize) we handed out seemed to be well recieved.
This year also had a higher percentage of really well put together costumes. Had one undead guy herethat looked straight out of a makeup shop (wounds and all).
At least ya’ll had Halloween on Friday, the po-dunk town I live in canceled Halloween on Friday and re-scheduled it for Saturday. They wanted the community to come out and support the Last game of the 0-14 High School football team. They lost 45 to 0. Go team. Least the candy haultonight was pretty good. We trick or treated in Tulsa Friday night then in our town Saturday. We just gave out the candy from Friday nite on Saturday. Ha! take that Backwards assed town.
We had an “early” Trick or Treat due to the HS football playoff game.It was weird trick or treating in full daylight. It was warm (60 degrees or so) so everyone was out on their porch handing out candy. My two got several full size candy bars and a few toys. They also got an advertisement for a daycare, house cleaner, and two notes telling them Jesus loves them. One note came with candy the other didn’t.
My hubby went out to light the jack-o-lanterns before going to work. He was approached by 4 times by trick or treaters, every time telling them he wasn’t giving out candy. One of their moms asked “What the hell are you doing outside”. He looked at her and said “Going to work.” She then asked him “Don’t you know trick or treat’s going on?” WTH? Are you not allowed to go outside unless you are giving out candy?? We make sure we seen them give candy or have a bowl since there were quite a few sitting outside enjoying the weather.
Oh and we saw a woman no less than 50 yrs old trick or treating as a “Prom Queen”. By herself. We followed her for several streets and everyone gave her candy but had a WTF? look on their face.
wow, nice haul! almost all chocolate (a.k.a. “the good stuff”)…
i gave out peanut butter cups (singles), too. local drug mart had ’em on sale for $1 per bag. at that rate, it’s almost as cheap as the crap candy. why risk being egged? ; )
Dibs on the Skittles and the Smarties.
I’ll take the Reese’s and KitKat’s!
Fuk dat! Whoppers all the way.
Not a bad haul, but I prefer a higher ratio of Snickers:Skittles.
I’ll take the Reece’s Cups!!
Yumm!
At the bottom of the picture is a baggy containing a single Tootsie Roll, a coupon for a Wendy’s Frosty, a small serving of Play-Doh, and an advertising pamphlet for a local business that caters to scrapbookers.
WTF?
More than I got.
I got a rock.
Wonder how many times the “baggy” house got egged by unimpressed trick-or-treaters?
As of 9:30 PM MST, I have had exactly ~ZERO~ little trick-or-treaters knock on my door. WTF? Every year it’s gone down, a dozen two years ago, last year I think there were four, and now this. that’s all he got?
man… when i was a kid i got a full backpack’s worth. on the *FIRST* trip.
then we we’d go to a different neighborbood and start on those houses.
I think this is a tie-in with the fake-assed peanut “allergies”.
also, is that green thing a condom?
jeff! what the fuck man!?
I think the green thing is the Play-Doh
Send me the Bottle Caps, particularly the root beer flavored ones. I could eat my way in to a diabetic coma on those things.
Halloween is over now. CANDY IS ON SALE. HALF OFF.
woooo
Looks pretty good from here.
Beerhound – what kind of candy do you give out? maybe word’s gotten out that it’s not primo.
anybody get any of those new dark chocolate rockin nut road snickers?
OMG – goodness!
that green thing in the bottom left, condom?

My Aunt Martha, may she rest in peace, used to hand out apples and oranges. Sad, I know…
Good Morning Surf Reporters………

just my opinion, but too many reeses peanutbutter cups.
i can eat 2 or 3 of those and then i’m done for the year.
now milkyeways… or almond joy/mounds… that’d send me to cornholio overkill mode.
Um, where are the Butterfingers & Baby Ruths? Reeses peanutbutter cups rock though, awesome that there were so many!
You know what candy sucks?
Necco wafers! Why not just go into the medicine cabinet and gnaw on a few Pepto Bismol tablets.

Oh and if the kids looked older than 14, I took candy from their sacks/bags and gave it to the littler kids, take that you little stingy bastards.
Good fun.
Also the kids did get bags of chips, some ding dongs and twinkies and a fifty cent piece. WTF? Nothing like mixing it up.
Secrets haul my ass………this is Jeff’s glove box for the ride to work
Coupons suck….
But green condoms make your dick look larger. I think.
What’s in the “boo” bag? KY Jelly? What kind of town do you live in Jeff?

Not enough little Kraft caramels, but all in all, a heckuva haul.
Looks like a green condom to me.
