Last weekend was hotter and more humid than the devil’s butt-crack, and a week later it feels like October outside. I love it. Not even Sunshine herself could be in a bad mood under such circumstances. Heck, I bet even David Lynch’s dog would be all relaxed and chilled today.
To celebrate the suddenly-crisp temperatures, I believe I’ll invest in a six-pack of Samuel Adams Octoberfest, to kick-off the evening’s festivities.
So, this will be the fluid lineup for today: Eight O’clock Bean Coffee, brewed extra-strong (currently being enjoyed), ice water (it tastes like nothing, yet it’s so damn good!), the Octoberfest (Samuel Adams is my favorite founding father), and a few standard vessels of the Pottsville golden elixir, as needed.
Tomorrow will be exactly the same, without the beer. For some reason they frown on employees drinking adult beverages at my job, the tight-asses. So, it’ll be a little extra water, and maybe a Mountain Dew Severe for a midnight pick-me-up.
What’s your weekend fluid lineup? Do you make adjustments, based on weather? What about mood? It’s very important we know these things. Use the comments link below.
And this concludes a rather ridiculous weekend quickie.
Holy crap – I missed a weekend update! Oh well, better late than never.
3 cups of extra strong Peet’s coffee for me in the morning then it’s water, water, water. I will take a little nip of Laphroig Single Malt once in a while and maybe a Campari or a Frenet Branca now and again, but I used to party like a rock star and my to keep my liver from looking like a charcoal briquette, I needed to slow down a little.
Happy Monday, Surfers!
and Happy Belated Birthday, Gretchen!
Dos Equis, and 8 o’clock coffee. Picked up the coffee on my vacation in NY last week. I had been drinking “the golden elixir” for three weeks straight, but had to leave my three remaining bottles in the fridge at my mother in law’s house in NY when I returned to Alaska. 🙁
Espresso and more espresso ….
weekend ……………..sloshing ‘guiness’
I was in Lynchburg, VA over the weekend and was given the opportunity to have a few of pottsville’s best. The wife was so impressed she forced me to purchase a case for the home collection, yummy stuff!
We ate at the “Main Street Eatery” on Thursday night. It is absolutely one of the best places to eat, Anywhere!
Damn good wine selection as well.
What is it they say about women and coffee? I like my coffee like I like my women: cold, bitter, and free of charge. Or something like that. No wait, it’s: dark, hot, and keeps me up all night. That’s the ticket.
Lowenbrau ?? I always thought that was German for “beer that’s too nasty for Germans to drink so we export it”.

Tadpolegal – That’s okay. I also found the link useful. And I’ve decided to embrace Mondays. 1/7 of your life is composed of Mondays, ya know.
Jason
I also share your adoration for Sam Adams.
I usually drink Mich 64 or Ultra-Light. Much to my chagrin it isn’t acceptable for women to have beer bellies, or so I have heard, hence the weak brew. Oh well.
Good Afternoon Surf Reporters…………
Always coffee in the morning, ice water and /or a Pepsi with Lunch, then beer upon beer upon more beer in the evening.
Yesterday I played in a golf outing, had my first beer at about 10:00 am, and when it was all said and done after the Steeler game at 10:30 at night, I’d say I was into about a good three sixpacks……..
I’m not proud
As for Oktoberfest and Löwenbräu:
Here’s to good friends,
Tonight is kind of special.
The beer we’ll pour
must say something more, somehow.
So tonight (tonight),
Tonight,
Let it be Löwenbräu (let it be Löwenbräu).
It’s been so long.
Hey, I’m glad to see ya.
Raise your glass.
Here’s to health and happiness.
So tonight (tonight),
Let it be all the best.
Löwenbräu has been served at every Oktoberfest in Munich since 1810 and is one of only six breweries permitted to serve beer at the festival. The Löwenbräu brewery was bombed to rubble during an Allied air raid in 1945. It was later rebuilt. What a big mistake. There was a reason it was bombed. It made Miller taste better.
Thanks to all those who wished me a happy birthday. I appreciate it. ;o)
I wasn’t home much this weekend, so I missed this.
Friday – 2 Labatt Blues (in Canada, so the real stuff – still tastes like shit to me, however), 1 Vernor’s
Saturday – 1 glass of Faygo Pineapple Orange pop (have to a bottle of orange and a bottle of pineappel and mix myself), water, 1 Founders IPA
Sunday – Water, last Founders IPA
