Shit got real, y’all! BTW, check out the meme this photo created. Everything from Stay-Puff Marshmallow Man to AT-ATs came our way. http://www.wral.com/wral-tv/image_gallery/13392751/

To paraphrase Maxwell Smart, we missed leaving on time by that much! If we (wife and I) had been able to leave a half hour earlier we would have been home with no problems. We got half way home (less than fifteen mile drive) after four hours and gave up, walking 2 hrs to our friends house. Fortunately, they had plenty of beer and food so all was well..

      Not 2 hrs, 2 miles… about 30 minutes!

We did have a small fender bender on the way too. This was traveling from Chapel Hill to the east side of Durham, NC.

Got up at 10:00 the next day and were home in 15 minutes. I wanted to head to our friends early, but my wife realllly wanted to get home. I should listen to me sometimes!

I was in it for 5 hours. Normally a 45 minute ride. US1/Capitol Blvd, the main north-south route through Raleigh, looked like this the whole way (except without the fire).
