Andy 2001 – 2017

December 17, 2017 By Jeff 82 Comments

I used to remind Andy, from time to time, that he won life’s lottery when we took him home from the shelter on September 9, 2001. And that’s true enough. But we also hit the jackpot that day. I don’t know how it would be possible for there to be a better dog. Rest in peace, buddy. You were a great friend.

    Mr Kay:

I’m so sorry to hear of Blacklips Houlihan’s passing.

Rest assured he’s serving up some piping hot yard cruellers in the place where good dogs go.

    peace:

Crap! Hard hurt to handle man. Just know Snoop Manny Man had a blast spending his life with you guys. Doggies and cats stay with us forever… he’ll never leave your side.

    Jeff’,
My heart goes out to you and yours.
We lost our large primary dog two weeks ago. He is survived by his smaller auxiliary daughter in our house. Not matter how much it hurts to let them go, that pain is overwhelmed by the joy we receive from their being in our lives.

    Jeff,

My deepest sympathies on your loss. Dogs don’t give a damn what kind of car we drive or how much money we have or how many people pissed us off this week. They just keep showering us with loyalty and affection and friendship. I know Andy was a special guy and that you and he were fast friends and partners in many romps and misdemeanors.

I know he’ll live forever in your memory.

    John

That really sucks, Jeff. Dogs become part of the family. I remember when you guys got him. Almost feel like I knew him reading about him for nearly 16 years.

Jeff (and Toney and the secrets), I’m so sorry this day has come. I loved reading Andy stories on the site (http://thewvsr.com/030907.htm jumped to mind immediately, can’t believe it’s been a decade since that post). Of course I never met him but he has to have been the best dog in the world. I gotta make spaghetti and meatballs in his honor. My sincere condolences to all of you.

    Awww.
    They are family.
He was lucky to have had you and yours as part of his pack.
Sux when they are ready to leave, and look to us to do for them –and speak for them– when they can’t do it themselves.
The best place to bury a dog? In the heart of his master (not my thought…but true).

Sorry to hear Jeff. having lost two dogs 6 months apart, I share the pain you are no doubt feeling. Brings to mind a quote, “I wish I could be the man my dog thinks I am”. True loyalty that cannot be replicated.
